Just trundling along with UHF. We should be done tomorrow.

Today was the last class day to work on the Chapter 9 notes which are due tomorrow, May 2.

I’m looking for two people who are interested in running cameras during the matinee show on Friday. Be prepared to think quickly and work hard! Comment or email me if you’d like to do this. (Film Studies students only, please!)

Film Studies

Today we finished up the last five minutes of Harvey, and then the remainder of the class was spent on shooting a short interview with each student.

NOTE: If you did not do an interview in class today, please let be ready to come to the Drama portable at lunch tomorrow to do your interview – it’ll only take 60 seconds and will include the following questions:

  1. What is something that you’ve learned in this course?
  2. Describe a favourite moment from one of the films we’ve watched.
  3. Describe a favourite moment from one of your personal favourite films.
  4. What has been the biggest challenge in making your film?

Just a BIG reminder to all film studies students – final projects are DUE this Friday, May 4. Computers are available before school, at lunch and after school, so please book in some time to get it done this week.

Also, please remember that I need to see a rough cut  before groups can submit their final version.

English – Watching Movies

In conjunction with our Stargirl unit, we began watching a film about a misfit / weirdo / outsider who, like Stargirl, comes up against his own set of problems. The film is the 1989 comedy, UHF, starring Weird Al Yankovic.

Social – Metis Stuffs

First off: sorry for the lack of updates. Last week had more than its fair share of computer problems.

We’re a bit behind right now, so we’ve been powering through the content of Chapter 9 which is all about the Metis in the late 1800′s. While there’s no homework per se, the notes are due to be finished on Wednesday, May 2.

English Happenin’s

For ELA 7B&C, a bit of time was given to finish up the Chapter 25-29 Questions. Afterwards, we did a writing exercise.

For ELA 7A, we read through chapters 25-29, did the writing exercise, then moved back to the book and started reading the last section. Only one more class, and we’ll be finished reading Stargirl!

Today started with a quick homework check, then there was some time to work on the rest of the first section of the notes.

No homework.

It’s coming… The Film Studies 8 class will be presenting their short films in the SCA Auditorium at 7pm on May 10th.

This year’s theme is “silent film” in honour of the art form’s roots oh-so-many years ago.

IF you like films or IF you are thinking about joining film studies next year or IF you are looking for a great night of entertainment…

You should come.
